Weeroc: very-high performance micro-detectors

The Weeroc start-up is a joint venture between the Omega laboratory1Organisation de Micro-Electronique Générale Avancée (CNRS/École Polytechnique) and the Laboratory of the Linear Accelerator2CNRS/Université Paris-Sud. It initially specialized in radiation-resistant chips. Since then, it has produced high-performance microelectronic circuits to detect photons and other particles. It offers a wide range of analogical sensors with very low background noise and energy consumption. These characteristics are made possible by a massive amount of work on signal treatment. This high-tech material has even found a niche on board the Ariane 5 rocket or at the CERN.
