An all-terrain rapid neutron detector

Rapid neutrons are dangerous harmful particles for to humans. A research team from the Grenoble-based Laboratory of Subatomic Physics & Cosmology (LPSC)1CNRS/Université Grenoble Alpes/ CNRS/Grenoble INP has designed a portable detector for these particles (MIMAC-FastN). It that is capable of measuring their energy over an extremely wide window spectrum, that which had never previously been covered previously. Another originality of tThe instrument is also novel in that it allows makes it possible to locate the source of neutrons to be located.—and tThus, it will be possible to determine the dose received in different environments such as during radiotherapy, on an airplane, in industries that use neutron sources or in a nuclear plant.
